Camp Rainbow 2013

Thomas BurkhalterCommunity Involvement

camprainbowCamp Rainbow is a day camp for MCG Health Children’s Medical Center hematology/oncology patients. The program was established in 1985. Any patient, ages four to 16, with cancer or a rare blood disorder who has been diagnosed and treated at the MCG Health Children’s Medical Center is eligible to attend and bring one sibling along.

Campers can participate in activities that help build self esteem and spend time with other children who are dealing with similar issues.

One of our greatest joys and honor is to attend Camp Rainbow through MCG and help pretty up the girls for the big finale dance before they go home. We have participated for 20 years, and we can’t begin to express how much fun we have doing it. Our staff travels to the camp to open up our hair salon, and we have the best time curling hair, and creating fancy styles and updos for the girls. The sweetness of the campers always fills our hearts.
